I'm currently enrolled at MATC in the Network Specialist program. I also would like to incorporate the Security Specialist program I started so that the two together will give me a well rounded understanding of computers networking in today's world.
In fact, computers are a vital tool in pretty much of everything we do today. I often think back to the day when my grandmother suggested I go into computers. Man did that lady have foresight. This was in the 70s when she made that statement and I should have listened. However at the time I really enjoyed interacting with people and didn't want to alienate myself by working with computers. Computers have come a long way since then and have many facets as they help with different activities and duties. It's impossible to go through a day without some computer interaction.
Unfortunately I embarked  on a career in the newspaper industry which I had really enjoyed. I worked with a great much of individuals and we were very much like family. I completed a four year apprenticeship in Lithography. This was an occupation that required working with hands in an artistic fashion. You cut mask, made color negatives and printed the final product. In today/s world this can be done in a few steps with digital cameras and a computer program. There went several jobs and the streamlining of Prepress. So goes the new age of digital computing.
Remember 35mm, APS, Polaroid,110  and several other forms of film cameras? I remember my first Pentax 35mm film camera, boy was that a thrill. No need for film these days because digital has replace the need for film.
As a result I am now embarking on what was suggested to me many years ago, not so much by choice but by default. I enjoy the gadgets. My various desktop computers with Operating systems of Windows 98 all the way to Windows 7 and 8. Maybe at some point they will reach 9 and 10, 11, 12 skip 13 and right to 14.
So this is what brings me to MATC, a desire  to learn more about future technology and how it will shape and influence our lives. I have always had an interest in how things work and it is fascinating to learn about new technologies.
